I decided to do ISR lessons for my daughter because we have a pool, but even if I didn’t, I couldn’t imagine foregoing the opportunity to teach her this survival skill. First and foremost, it saved my daughter’s life the day she decided to walk into the pool while we were FaceTiming her grandparents. She wasn’t even through the entire program and rolled straight onto her back. Had she not had these skills, I cannot even imagine what would have happened. Besides this reason, which is all I ever need to say to convince other parents to sign up, it taught my daughter to love the water. Teaching her to swim now that she is older is a breeze, she doesn’t fear the water, but she also respects it. Finally, the routine and discipline of attending class daily for a couple of months is a great way to jumpstart socializing babies. For ten minutes a day, they are on their own, working things out and (hopefully 🙂 listening to their teacher. Do not let this opportunity pass you by. You will never regret taking charge of your child’s safety and wellbeing.
