Hi I’m Jen Tyson, certified ISR instructor here in the Columbus area.

I have had the honor of raising my two little munchins and with the support of my loving husband have started a new chapter in my life! I am so excited to share with you why ISR is such and important part of my life.

ISR has been a part of my life for 7 years. I started out as an ISR swim parent, putting my own children through lessons for 3 years. As I watched my kids flourish in lessons and in the water independently I realized, swim survival skills became my passion and I want to share them with more families! I would watch other children at water parks, or public pools and sadly at private home pools and I would think to myself, how great would it be if other children could gain actual swim skills and enjoy the water? How great would it be if parents felt confident with their child at the pool? So as my children have gotten older and I have wanted to back to work, ISR was the perfect fit! I have been teaching for 4 years and have taught over 350 students these amazing life saving skills.

I have been blessed with an amazing support of the ISR team locally and nationally, and enjoy every minute of teaching kids how to navigate the water. ISR teaches patients, listening skills, confidence and most importantly life saving skills in the water. I will never forget the first parent that contacted me to tell me they had a fall in the water scare. This family had decided to take lessons because they have a pond in their back yard filled with interesting fish. Their child fell in the pond while they were outside playing fully clothed and used his ISR skills to roll back and float and wait to be rescued! This is exactly why I do what I do!

ISR believes pool fences, supervision, and pool alarms are important parts of a necessary multi-layered approach to drowning prevention. However, traditional lines of defense break down, and the over 4,000 drowning deaths per year bear a grim testament to the fact that traditional approaches are missing a key component: the child. ISR’s core conviction is that the child is the most important part of a drowning prevention strategy and our over 300,000 ISR graduates and 800 documented survival stories are proof that children can save themselves. Children are curious, capable, and have an uncanny ability to overcome obstacles like pool fences; at ISR we take that ability and teach them skills to potentially save themselves if they find themselves in the water alone.

The ISR Difference

All Certified ISR Instructors complete a rigorous, 8-week in-water and academic training course. Additionally instructors participate in a highly specialized annual recertification to maintain the highest level of safety and caliber of instruction.

Prior to beginning lessons, your child’s unique medical history is reviewed by a team of medical professionals to identify any potential health issues that may affect your child’s lessons and safety.

Parent education: Your child is not the only one learning during lessons. ISR’s program includes comprehensive parent education on aquatic safety and drowning prevention.

Private One on One lessons every time. All lessons are individually tailored to your childs needs, with individual attention and focus on your child to provide long lasting results.
